It means "being fed up," "not wanting any more trouble," in some cases until "being dead." For the latter there is a history (very porteña) about deceased patients who will no longer eat some Lola brand diet cookies that served next to lunch in hospitals; but it's another fake, based on some real facts. Even if I don't remember, there are records of a cookie called Lola (or Lolita) in the 1930s, but I don't know if it was diet. I do remember a Lola, from Bagley, which appeared in the mid-1970s. It was a merengada covered in milk chocolate. And no, it wasn't low calories, that's for sure. I make the mention because I don't remember hearing the phrase before 1980 either. But it must be because of my selective arteriosclerosis. Surely it existed, and so I swear to several memorized; because this last cookie was not as famous as the first, which entered the local saying by force of methymy. The sentence is then interpreted as "not wanting more biscuit", because the cookie in the popular saying, is synonymous with "lío, mess, pain, difficulty, blow"; anyway, any adverse circumstances. We have to unravel the tangled 'wire cookie'; we suffer when our love abandons us and 'hangs the cookie'; we blaspheme when we get caught by a 'traffic cookie' stuck on a highway; we run when Pepe Galleta threatens to lower our dining room from a soup. . .
